India Association Bonn e.V.Indian Association Bonn e.V. (IAB) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to Indian cultural activities. About 5000 Indian reside in Bonn and suburbs of Bonn, primarily occupied in high-tech, engineering, medical, IT-Technology, UN and WHO, diplomats and business professions. IAB was planned in the late 1980’s but was established in April 2006. This is the only organisation in the area that represents the Indian cultural activities. IAB is the only link available connecting the Indians back to their roots. This Association was established for the promotion of German-Indian cooperation and intensive friendship.IAB´s best and biggest events were “60 Years of Indian Independence (2007)” and the Mega Event celebrating "60 Years of Indian Republic". These events met all tastes, music and dances from India. These events gave the local community a glimpse of India and its culture. The main objective of this association is to hold the Indian Community together to their cultural roots and to guide the new generation in the different ways of life living abroad in two extremely different cultures in coexistence. IAB hosts cultural events providing added benefits of sharing our culture with the German Citizens. IAB arranges several tours to different parts of Europe. During the past few years IAB has hosted diverse and interesting events like: Friendship Dinners, Lohri, Deepawali, Dusherra and Holi celebrations, New Year’s Party, Indian New year (Besakhi), Independence Day, various picnics, BBQ evenings, summer festivals and many other activities. As the Indian population is growing, the role IAB is playing in the Bonn area will continue to be of great importance. In the years to come our children will be proud of this Association to have given them not only the local German and English but also given them the cultural necessity of their mother tongue Hindi which held them together to their roots and cultural heritage. On 25. August 2007 IAB planned a „Mega Event” with 4 major Associations “60 Years of Independence of India”. This way they brought 4 associations together and celebrated this event with more than 1300 guests from all over Germany. This Function ended in “Total Harmony” having guests from different parts of the world. On 1st Nov. 2008 we had another Deepavali Function. If you go through the program, you will find that the second generation Indians had planned and organised this show. The show ended with lots of appreciation for the new generation and for the parents to guide the children to live in both the cultures maintaining the roots. Again in Jan. 2010 IAB planned another “Mega Event” “60 Years of Indian Republic “ Main Entrance had to be closed as the capacity of the hall reached more than 120%. |
